PRIVATE RESIDENCE, STATEN ISLAND
Opus’s expertise was requested to restore a 19th century antique mirror frame that was the focal point of the client’s front foyer and had been cherished over the years by the family.
Standing at 9’ tall and 2’ wide, the mirror's handcrafted wood frame was in poor condition. Sections of the frame’s rope design and base detail were missing; and the wood finish was worn and deteriorated throughout.

Desiring a luxurious feel, the client asked Opus to adorn the ornate frame in gold leaf to bring the dull finish to life. In addition, Opus made a silicon rubber mold from the existing designs, cast in glass fiber reinforced gypsum and installed it to the missing areas.
