TERRA COTTA - THE FRED F. FRENCH BUILDING, MIDTOWN
The thirty-eight-story skyscraper was erected in 1927, with a striking art deco facade and has contributed significantly to the international reputation of Fifth Avenue. The Landmark Preservation Commission concluded that it "remains one of the finest examples of the stylistic compromise between lingering historicism and vanguard modernism.” Opus was commissioned to restore the discolored patches of the decorative friezes on all four sides of the main level roof's tower.

“For over five years Ms. Quartin and her team at Opus have been my primary source for the staining of masonry patches and joints. Their work at the monumental polychromatic terra cotta friezes of the Landmark Fred F. French Building was exceptional. Commissioned to touch up and adjust the colors of new terra cotta patching and original glaze loss, Opus was able to match the vibrant colors perfectly to the satisfaction of both Owner and the Landmarks Commission. I never hesitate to recommend Opus for all of my masonry staining challenges!”
